We just got back from filming a new TV series at the Iberostar hotel in Jamaica!
I’d like to introduce you to my new team from Lakeshore Public Television in Indiana: in the photo above are Matt, Amy, JP, Ben and Cosmo from Indiana and Myself, Sahra, Melissa and Annick from Montreal. |
 |
The President/CEO of Lakeshore, Tom Carroll, was the man responsible for bringing Classical Stretch to public television in 2000 when he was working in Watertown NY.
I am so excited to be working with him again 8 years later as he was always a believer in the value of the program! |

It was hard work getting up at 3:00 AM every morning and filming at 5:45AM just as the sun came up; but watching the sun rise each day was very therapeutic and made the early hours worth it! We’d manage to film 3 to 4 shows in the morning and be finished by 10 am.
By 8:30 PM the whole team was sound asleep. We felt as though we were back in our childhood when we were so exhausted that we happily went to sleep so early. |

I was really lucky to have Annick Chartier as my make-up artist in this shoot. Annick is a good friend who happens to be the key make up artist on many Hollywood movies. Annick managed to take 10 years off my life with the magic of her make-up kit and exceptional talent.
Annick traveled with a large trunk filled with hundreds of brushes, oils, cleansers, creams, stains, paints, you name it she came prepared to deal with even the most stubborn beauty challenge.

Once again we had the pleasure of working with the Iberostar hotels for another fabulous Classical Stretch series. Iberostar Rose Hall Resort in Jamaica was stunning as you’ll see from photos and of course form the TV series itself.
The resort is located in a micro-climate sheltered by a semi-circular mountain range. As a result the weather is almost always sunny and during hurricane season we only had a few little showers in the afternoon; it was virtually rain free! Hurricanes were hitting islands all around us but our weather stayed gorgeous. We need sun for filming and let me tell you we got lots of sun.

Most of you know that I love food and I was not disappointed with the Iberostar buffet!
My favorite meal was breakfast where Latoya the egg chef made fresh omelets. Yum!
Then came hot from the oven sweet breads and rolls, oatmeal with cinnamon sugar, a fresh fruit plate of mango, pineapple, green oranges, banana, spinach or mango smoothies, expresso….breakfast was a BIG meal.
I’d sleep and skip lunch and then we’d have a light supper and off to bed at 8:30! What a life: hard work, good food, and a stunning location. |

Afternoons were free time and none of us left the Iberostar since there was so much to do and the beach was so beautiful.
The crew would hit the beach and pools, play volleyball, read under a tree on the beach, snorkel or scuba dive! I usually took a nap after breakfast then would join everyone on the beach for a swim. Nice work if you can get it! At night Sahra and I played cards in the hotel lobby…I’ve become an expert at Crazy Eight’s!

Our last day, we went horseback riding in the Montego Bay region. We rode into the mountains through a peasant village, visited an abandoned sugar plantation and finally my favorite part riding the horse in the Caribbean Ocean. They advertised it as a piece of paradise and I agree; riding a horse in the ocean was an amazingly spiritual experience.
We were given a quick tour of the region which was a contrast in wealth and poverty, but mostly it showed what a beautiful lush country Jamaica is. This is a country overflowing with brilliant flowers, trees laden with exotic fruits; mangos, avocado’s, pineapples limes, & bananas, and lots of talk of sugar cane and rum.

Jamaica is a beautiful country with extreme wealth and poverty. But one thing which strikes everyone is that the soul of the people is happy. It was very clear that the wealth in Jamaica was in the love that the people had for each other.
They were happy just to hang out together; and money as we all know isn’t the key to happiness.
Family and friendship is very high on the list of what makes people happy and this is true all over the world! We look forward to returning to this beautiful island and hope to hold a fitness retreat there in the future! Hope to see you then! |

A little bit about the content of this series! Many of you have always said you loved the shows I had done in Jamaica several years back so since I was back on the island I tried to recreate that format! I think you’ll be very happy with the results: from the exercises to the music! All of the shows are full body workouts with flowing movements that will do everything from relieving joint pain to toning your tummy.
I try very hard to make each show unique, entertaining and educational and I hope I am doing a good job motivating you all to exercise! I am so aware of how important it is to exercise regularly; I believe it keeps you younger both in mind and in body!
I want to thank you all for supporting Classical Stretch through the years and hope its helping to make your quality of life better!
