FAQs

This is my first time travelling alone:
We have had many women travelling on their own for the first time to come to the Classical Stretch Retreat. Most have been a little nervous at first but none have regretted it! A transfer meets you at the airport and takes you directly to the hotel. The hotel is safe and friendly and as soon as you arrive you know you'll be happy and well taken care of. There are lots of singles and we always have an "open" table at all meals if you don't want to eat on your own. We organize three group suppers and everything else is optional. We've discovered that Classical Stretch lovers have a lot in common and enjoy each other's company and often team up to go to town, or to the beach or the Spa.

Breakfast, Lunch and Supper:
Though we formally organize only three group suppers (which are also optional) we do tend to eat together for many more meals. Most people grab a small snack before the morning class and after class we all go to breakfast together. This is a great time to relax and bond before the day begins. Though there are many lunch restaurants to choose from including a beach buffet, Miranda and team have lunch everyday at 1:30 in one specific restaurant so anyone who wants to join is welcome. We organize three group suppers: on the first night, a simple buffet as we are all tired, on the 2nd night a specialty restaurant, and on the last night another specialty restaurant for our farewell party!! On all other nights, Miranda and team are at the buffet or group members team up to try other specialties!

What type of food is served at the hotel?
The food at the Iberostar is very good especially considering that it is an all-inclusive. There are many options to pick from with veggies, fish, salads, pasta, pizza, meat and chicken. You will not be lacking in food. The desserts are particularly good... and we do eat them in moderation of course. During the day there are various restaurants open if you do get hungry between meals. There is also an ice cream bar, creperie, fajita bar, burger joint and tapas bar open all day long. All-inclusive. Finally, if you want a quiet night in, room service is part of your all-inclusive package.

I'm nervous about the food and water:
Will I get an upset stomach? The old stories of getting sick in Mexico are just that...old! Not one person has gotten sick on our retreats. The Iberostar is a Spanish hotel chain and has its own water purification system on site. Though you are provided with bottled water in your mini-bar (free of charge) the water served in the restaurants are also safe to drink. It is not unusual to get a queasy stomach from time to time when you travel, no matter where you go the body has to adjust to new foods. However we have not had that experience at the Iberostar.

Drink:
All drinks are included in your price and there is never a bar too far where you can order non-alcoholic or alcoholic drinks such as lemonade, sparkling water, virgin daiquiri, or Coco Loco (one of our favorites!).

What other activities are available at the Resort?
Whether you want to relax all day long by the ocean or pool, or you prefer to keep active, the Iberostar and surroundings have something for you. Activities on the resort include but are not limited to tennis, biking, water sports, kayaking, wind surfing, salsa lessons, Spanish classes, and many others. Also included for an extra fee are Spa treatments, golf, pottery painting on the beach and more. You can also take the free shuttle into the small town of Playa del Carmen for some local shopping.

How can I organize an off-site tour?
There are many tour operators located in the hotel lobby that will help you chose the perfect off-site tour. You can swim with dolphins, snorkel or visit local ruins.

My friend/husband would like to come but does not want to take part in the exercises; how can we arrange this?
Not a problem! We will adjust the price in consequence. Even though they do not want to take part in the classes, they will likely enjoy meeting the group for at least one supper! This is a holiday for you and you chose exactly how you'd like to spend it. You can attend all activities or none.

Number of Participants:
We like a minimum of 12 and a maximum of 20 participants in order to ensure personal attention.

Should I arrive a day early?
90% of people arrive the day the retreat begins. The first class is offered in the later afternoon (4:30pm) so try to book your flights to arrive before 2pm if you want to attend the first class. You also depart the day the retreat ends and the last class is given from 8:00am to 9:00am. Most people attend this class as well.

Which airport should I fly into?
You will fly into the Cancun airport and the resort is located 30 minutes south of the airport at the Riviera Maya (45 minutes south of Cancun).

Transfers:
We organize your return transfer between the airport and the hotel.

What should I wear at the retreat?
Comfortable and cool exercise clothes are your best bet for the classes. You might want to being a nice dress or skirt for the specialty restaurants but in general the dress code is casual and comfortable.

How safe is the hotel?
The Iberostar is a five-star hotel that offers safety, comfort and attention to detail. At no time will you ever feel nervous about your surroundings. Access to the resort is restricted to guests only.
