Spring is finally here, which may be more exciting for me up north in Montreal than for some of you in the south.  Nonetheless,  it’s time to put away the winter clothes and get ready for the summer ones. The problem is those summer clothes don’t always fit after the winter as we tend to put on a pound or two and exercise less over those colder winter months.

Although it’s fun to get new clothes, purchasing a new wardrobe is an expensive solution to the problem of tight clothes!

A solution: give yourself an at-home 7 day boot-camp. If you follow this program you should be able to lose several pounds and about one size in the week.

This is a fitness & diet at-home boot-camp

Fitness component

Do one hour Classical Stretch or two ½ hour shows in the morning
And one hour in the evening before supper
Go for a brisk ½ hour walk every day

Diet component

Women: consume 1200 calories daily (for the week)
Men: consume 1700 calories daily (for the week)
Cut out (or reduce to a minimum) sugar, white flour and all processed food.
Cut out salad dressing, cheese, and red meat
Eat fresh fruit, vegetables, lean fish or chicken and whole wheat bread.

After a week you should feel healthy, invigorated and thinner.

Up coming Classical Stretch retreats

I’m looking forward to returning to Jamaica for a retreat on June 13th where we filmed that last TV series! The resort in Jamaica is located directly on the ocean, and the water is stunningly beautiful, calm and warm. We would lie in the water for hours drinking lemonade and completely relaxing. The dining room has a wrap around outdoor balcony where we ate every night. It was beautifully lit and peaceful as we ate to the sound of the ocean and beautiful music. 

I love the Jamaicans as they have a special inner joy; they are always smiling and singing and optimistic no matter what their personal circumstances.  We made a lot of friends on our last trip and I’m looking forward to seeing them again.

I personally love the retreats for the boot-camp effect they have on my body but I think I like the friendship aspect the most. Because the retreats are so intimate, we have all made life-long friendships with the people we meet. So I hope to meet more of you in the future!

I saw the comment at the end of your new Season 5 program thanking fans for their support over the years and it prompted me to write you.

I AM a fan and have been working out to Season 4 on my local public TV station for the past two years. I bought the DVD for times I couldn't make the regular schedule and to keep up my regimen during vacations.

I am 65 years YOUNG and the classical stretch workouts are the single most important part of my day. I also walk a miniimum of 45 minutes daily, hike weekly and stay generally pretty active, but I feel the classical stretch routines are VITAL for setting me up to fully enjoy the rest of my day. Miranda Esmonde-White's stretch program is the most effective, safe and sensible regimen I have ever encountered and I hope to continue doing it for a lifetime. I spread the word to friends every chance I get. Though never bored doing Season 4 workouts, I now have a new set of exercises thanks to Season 5. 

Please keep up your wonderful work improving the health and well being of the masses.

What’s your favorite health book/magazine?
I love to read. I think Younger Next Year for Women by Chris Crowley & M.D., Henry S. Lodge, is my favorite because it’s a combination of medical fact and a lay-mans personal experience on aging. It is both inspiring and informative.

What do you do during your time off?
I never really take more than 10 days off exercising! Even when I have holidays I still make sure I work out. The book 10 Years Younger that I mentioned above really inspires me to keep my body young and active; and this means daily exercise!
My favorite things to do during my time off are to read, to visit friends & family, travel and to spend time in coffee shops and book stores! I also love to go to the movies!

Ask anyone at the office and they’ll tell you Huffington Post! I’m addicted; it’s a bit of a problem!

Pure Stretch DVD

After the winter we tend to get a little soft around the waist-line.

When I need to tighten up my mid-section I double up on the trademark exercises, those are the ones in the first 8 to 15 minutes of each TV show.

I do 15 to 20 minutes of these exercises morning and night for a week or so. Those full body exercises are so powerful; they never fail to quickly get me in shape. I do the regime daily until I get the results that I am looking for.  The best series for intense full body stretches would be the Pure Stretch DVD series. Just take the first 10 to 15 minutes of two shows in a row and try to do that twice a day.

I love that part of every workout so you should enjoy this get-in-shape program. Hope this helps you as much as it helps me!
