Dear friends!

I recently met a woman who just turned 51 years young, who for many years faithfully attended yoga and pilates classes and worked out on her treadmill in hopes of getting rid of her belly and hip fat. Regardless of her efforts nothing budged on the scale or the tape measure. This past summer though, she came across the Classical Stretch bootcamp challenge on our website and thought she would give it a try.

Within two weeks of working out daily to the Classical Stretch DVDs she saw a change in her body for the first time. Needless to say she has since become a regular student in our studio. The question she had was, “What is it about Classical Stretch from other programs that actually make the change to your body shape?”

So here’s my answer; The difference with Classical Stretch is that it is designed as a full body workout, while other programs fail to incorporate every area of the body. In pretty much every workout Classical Stretch will stretch and strengthen every muscle in the body from head to toe. That’s around 600 muscles that have been pulled and loaded up with your body’s natural weight and moved around so as to force the muscles to strengthen. It took years and a lot of experimentation to get the formula correct, so someone works their hardest during the program they will definitely see a change in their muscles and overall body shape.

Although muscle strengthening and body slenderising are a benefit to anyone regardless of their weight, but to see maximum results you need to change your eating habits. People who have done the boot camp along with a diet have seen amazing results in 3 to 4 weeks.

August 1st 2010

I just wrapped up a four day teacher training workshop and what a crazy experience it was for me and the 22 participants. They were a diverse group of instructors from all around the globe including New Zealand, Texas, Ontario and Quebec with various professional backgrounds such as professional dancers, former Olympic athletes and fitness instructors. I loved this unique mix because each instructor has their knowledge and experience to add to the pool of information that is shared in these live workshops.

However, after a very constructive first two days disaster struck. I was in the middle of a lecture on the neuromuscular system when my nose began to suddenly bleed or should I say it began to pour, which it continued to do so for the next two days.

Ask Miranda

Miranda,

I love your program, and I tape episodes twice a week on my local PBS station.  I would like to purchase the DVD that has the episode that concentrated on constipation.  Could you tell me if that’s in the 2009 DVDs part 1 or 2?

I also find the facia release very beneficial.  I see it’s in part 2.

Thanks,

Cindy

Hi Cynthia,

Re constipation, change workouts everyday to rebalance your muscles. If you workout everyday and eat lots of fruits, vegetables and natural organic whole grain breads and cereals daily the combination will probably help a lot.

Junk food like; fried food, donuts, chocolate bares, any soda’s, chips they will all make you constipated

Miranda,

Thanks so much for the new back pain DVD. I started using it yesterday
and it felt good.

I hurt my back several weeks ago while doing the balance exercise,
standing on one foot and writing the alphabet. Okay, I thought, have
to be more careful. It was only when I pulled the same muscle for the
third time that I decided to stop the work-out. At the time I only had
the old back pain DVD and it did not help.

Massage and acupuncture worked, but I still kept putting off the
workouts. Now there are no more excuses! I will let you know how I get
on.

Thanks for all the fabulous work you do. Hope you are well and not
working too hard.

Hi Kristina,

I am sorry to hear about the alphabet bothering your back. Next time only do up to the letter D as that will be 4 x's. Alphabet is really a good exercise but obviously your back muscles cannot handle the stress.

Try to build to H for 8 x's and then never go beyond that letter,  so as to get a sufficient workout without overstressing your back

My best,

Miranda

Summer Retreat - MONTREAL IN AUGUST! August 26th to 30th 2010

We will be holding an end of summer retreat August 26th in the beautiful city of Montreal where you can explore the flavour of Europe’s cobbled streets and old stone buildings nestled against the St. Laurence River. There is an abundance of history to take in throughout the city with places like the Chateau de Ramsey, the aqueduct museum, the sailors church and Notre Dame Cathedral where Celine Dion was married. Montreal is also famous for fine dining and great shopping.

The Montreal retreats are a healthy balance of 2 hours of Classical Stretch in the mornings followed by culture, shopping and delicious meals.

They are a holiday that you won’t forget.

Training and Certification Program
teacher training

Last Month we had over 18 instructors coming to attend our 4-day instructor training workshop.

We have a very complete distance learning instructor training program, but there is no substitute for live workshops. I am really looking forward to this workshop as there are instructors coming from all around the world; New Zealand, Texas, Windsor, Ottawa and Montreal. If you are lucky enough, one of these instructors is from your region and will go back and offer classes near you.

Although we have many instructors currently teaching this program that is nowhere near enough to fill the demand we receive on a daily basis. We need a lot more enthusiastic trainers to offer classes in every major city.

Following a DVD at home is great, but there is truly no substitute to live classes.

To learn more about the Classical Stretch teacher training or if you have any questions about becoming a teacher you can read more about it on my website or feel free to write to training@classicalstretch.com

Exercise of the Month

exercise of the month

Figure 8 with the arms to improve the posture and loosen the upper back muscles.

Using the arm when it is both bent at the elbow and straight at the elbow are some of the most effective exercises for improving posture, getting rid of upper back and shoulder pain, frozen shoulder and increasing energy.

I love these exercises and try to incorporate them in some way into every routine. They are simple to do and can be repeated as many times a day as you want
