Moving to our new office and studio space!
This January we will be moving into new offices at an amazing location in the heart of Montreal. Montreal is an island city built around a mountain and because it is French, it has a very European feeling to it. It’s really pretty. Our new offices are nestled against the mountain in a renovated historic gray stone mansion.
The new digs will include a small filming studio where we will retreats and teacher trainings. In our new studio we plan alos on filming web content and internet interactive instructor trainings. The studio has high ceilings and raw brick walls, overlooking a private court yard which I plan on filling with flowers and comfortable furniture. We won’t have access to the studio until March and I cannot wait.
When it’s ready we will post lots of photos on the web.
Stay tuned!

January 2010,
Washington DC
This Christmas Sahra, my daughter, and I decided on an educational holiday in Washington DC one of our favourite cities in the world. During our 7 days we visited Mount Vernon ( George Washington’s home), the White House, took tours of the Capital, the Library of congress and Gettysburg. We visited the Native American Museum and the National Art Gallery where we were lucky enough to attend a concert featuring Grammy award winner Spanish guitarist Sharon Isbin.
|
We spent a great deal of time walking around both Georgetown and the Mall admiring the magnificent architecture and stately old buildings. After doing lots of good appetite building exercise we then explored the restaurant scene. Washington is a city for foodies of every taste, from gourmet organic to top of the line trendy.
As history buffs we brunched at the Hay-Adams Hotel overlooking the White House; not only did Barack Obama stay there before his inauguration but the property was originally owned by one of Lincolns Secretaries, John Hay and civil war ambassador Charles Adams. We had to brunch there
The best part of our trip was celebrating Christmas with good friends in Bethesda who later invited us to dine with them at the storied Cosmos club. That was a history lesson all by itself with Supreme Court justices’, past presidents, ambassadors, as well as Pulitzer Prize and Nobel prize winners. I wanted to hide in a cleaning closet and stay longer to just to explore the library longer.
Now I’m ready to pass my American history exams! Yeah

55 Minute Core Workout DVD
We try to make workouts tailored to requests. One of the major issues people worry about is poor posture. It doesn’t matter if they’re young, old, male or female posture seems to be of major concern to everyone. I designed a workout that focus 100% on improving posture from breaking the tension in a locked spine to strengthening the core musculature that is needed to support it.
This new Core DVD works to stretch, rebalance and strengthen every muscle group in your torso; abs, side extensors, as well as full back and upper body musculature. |
Unfortunately having good posture is not as simple as standing up straight. Many people are so tight that literally cannot stand up straight. Their backs are either so rounded and the muscles contracted that they are incapable of straightening their spine. This workout is intended to break up the tension, rebuild damaged muscle cells and strengthen the muscles. I have taught it hundreds of times. It is really popular with my students, who have requested often that I bring it back. So I made a DVD of it for everyone.
It takes a few times to get used to the moves but after you become familiar with it you will notice a big improvement in your posture.
It’s good workout for anyone who already has good posture and just wants to keep it! That is me! I plan on doing this or a similar core type workout all my life as I know that the only way to maintain good posture is to exercise the posture muscles daily.

| Exercise of the Month |

CARIBEAN SPINE EXERCISE
- Back Flexion: When you're doing this movement, make sure that you arch your back as much as possible
- Foward Flexion: shift from sticking yur bum back to a tucking under position, lifting the shoulders and rounding the upper back
without bending forward
- Foward Flexion: keep your elbows as high as possible; the arm movements stretch the upper part of the spine and the hip movements stretch the lower part of the spine
- Back Flexion: return to position 1

This sequence of movements is some of the most effective in unlocking the tight inflexible muscle of the spine and improving posture.
Generally speaking poor posture is caused by tight weak muscles of the upper and lower back and by weak abdominal muscles.
But even with the strongest of muscles, if someone has inflexible the upper body muscles then they will most likely have posture will be poor. I like to encourage my clients to make an all out effort to increase the flexibility of the spine even if it is one muscle cell at a time and the change is barely perceivable.
By doing this sequence very slowly six or seven time in a row, on a daily basis, the full spine will slowly loosen up and the
posture will undoubtedly improve.improve. |

Up coming Classical Stretch retreats
I love retreats! Over the years they’ve become a type of reunion because at least half of the participants at every retreat are “repeats”. The last retreat was in Jamaica at the Iberostar 5-star Grand Hotel (Butler and ocean view balcony included, it was an insane level of luxury!) where we lucked out with perfect weather.
The exercising is great for body & soul but as everyone says the best part of the retreats are the people. These retreats seem to attract a very like minded attendee; smart, intelligent, interesting and nice people. |
We will be offering one Jamaican Retreat in June and will be holding several retreats in Montreal this spring and summer.
The Montreal retreats are always sold out so we’re planning on offering 3 this year. Montreal retreats last 4 days with 2 hours a day of classes with lots of fun, food and sightseeing in between. We are trying to coordinate these retreats with special Montreal events like the The Jazz festival.

May 6th to 10th Montreal Retreat
June 12th to 18th Jamaica Retreat, Iberostar Rose Hall Grand Hotel
June 24th to 28th Montreal Retreat to coincide with the Montreal Jazz Festival
August 26th to 30th Montreat Retreat
