MIRANDA'S MESSAGE
I have been getting wonderful feedback about season 8! Filming down South is always so beautiful; I think that this season is particularly scenic. Hearing your positive response to the season makes me more and more excited to start on filming season 9.
I am having so much fun going through Season 8 with you all on facebook. The whole head office is really getting into this 30-challenge and it is so exciting to be able to engage with participants as it is happening. The girls in the office are sitting taller and are feeling great; I hope you all are too!
We are busy getting ready for our weekend in Colorado’s Rocky Mountains. Even though there will probably be snow, I am really looking forward to spending some time outdoors and getting to do some live classes with our Colorado fans! I will also be conducting a teacher training workshop while I am out West, I always love meeting our new teachers who are helping us spread the word about Classical Stretch.
One of our viewers asked a great question about spinal flexion that I have answered in this newsletter. She inspired us to film a little tutorial on what I mean when I say “Neutral C” and why it is so so important for every Classical Stretch workout that you do!
Have a wonderful February everyone!

Ask Miranda:
Q: I have noticed that in many of your episodes you mention that we should be tucking under in some exercises. Can you explain what “neutral C” is exactly and how to use it?
A:“Neutral C” is doing a pelvic tilt where you pull your tailbone under until you can’t pull it anymore. You should feel the muscles of your lower spine being stretched to their maximum. Now do the same thing with the opposite end of your spine, which is your neck and upper spine: round your upper body and shoulders pulling them as much as possible to match the same tension as in the lower spine. You are actually making your back look like the letter C by curving forward at both ends.
If we don’t maintain maximum flexibility in our spine, our whole body slowly becomes stiffer and stiffer. The stiffer the spine is the less you are able to engage the muscles in the front of your body, which is your stomach. And you won’t be able to engage you back muscles so you won’t have good posture either. We use “Neutral C” to help stretch and strengthen our entire spine in order to achieve beautiful posture and flatter stomachs.
