My summer began with a wonderful trip to Rome with my daughter Sahra. We had a fantastic time walking all over the city. Besides the best dinner of my life in Fuigi, there is nothing like a mother-daughter bonding holiday! After Rome I returned to Canada and Sahra went to Budapest to train several actors on the set of the up-coming miniseries “World without End”. It’s the sequel to “Pillars of the Earth”. What an adventure she has had, to be able to spend 6 weeks exploring one of the world’s most beautiful cities while gaining a whole new fan base for Classical Stretch with international actresses. After Budapest she went to London to work with actress/super model Lily Cole. Lily is presently working on the latest ‘Snow White” movie.  This has definitely been a ‘pinch-me summer for both of us, especially Sahra. She returns to Montreal mid September when she will film a new series of ESSENTRICS DVD’s.

It is September now, with summer officially over we can catch our breath after a really busy two months of work. This summer we held the first complete 4-levels of workshops that accompany these manuals.  We now have level four trained instructors. They are amazing!  Each level builds on the fundamental principles of ESSENTRICS.

Teachers from all across the USA and Canada joined us at our beautiful studio in Montreal for three day sessions on each level. It was a two week teacher-training marathon! I just loved seeing the new crop of teachers who had a great time learning together! On a personal note, it’s wonderful for me to see the company grow since the completion of the manuals in March of last year. I am so excited to be able to finally pass along my program. This is my gift and legacy to my fellow man.

We also held two summer retreats, one in Montreal and one in the Adirondack Mountains at a health spa! Our Montreal retreat was a really fun. They are always a success because of the people who attend.  Retreats are a time to make new friends and have fascinating conversations while exploring Montreal’s gourmet and health restaurants.  I try to make the two hour of classes not too exhausting, but more educational.  I want everyone to leave with lots of tips on how to get more out of their workouts. It’s amazing how dramatically people’s bodies can change in only 4 days of intense classes!

Our second summer retreat took place at Spa Eastman, just North of Montreal, nestled in the mountains. The beautiful scenery and benign spa setting was a huge hit with all participants. The kitchen caters to the individual, making it a dream for vegans and vegetarians as well as people who want fish or meat in their menu. This spa is a perfect place for people to get away and regenerate their batteries. We did two hours of classical stretch classes every day.  In addition to the classes the spa offers walks in the mountains with trained kineseologist’s, hair treatments, and a wide variety of massages. Most returning participants claimed that this was the most relaxing retreat ever! I look forward to another retreat at Spa Eastman in January focusing on weight loss. The January weight-loss retreat will be under the supervision of a doctor and nurse, featuring individualized meals prepared in their kitchens lectures and 2 ½ hours of gentle classical stretch. This retreat will help people lose weight during the 7 days as well kick-start a new page in their life.

Spa Eastman Weight Loss Retreat – January 7th to 14th 2012

Just in time for your new year’s resolution, we are offering a one week weight loss retreat under the supervision of a doctor and nurse at Spa Eastman.

Participants will receive medical advice and personalized meals from the gourmet kitchens at the Spa. Miranda's mini workshop " Posture "


Someone just walked into my office claiming that we had changed her life. The woman who just came into my office on her way to class told me that for 40 years, her husband has been telling her to walk straighter but she could never manage to do so. If you walk down the street, poor posture seems like an epidemic!

The subject that I find myself repeating in the video-workshops, teacher trainings, retreats, and classes is posture. Poor posture is vital to health and well-being and I am finding that almost all new clients have postural problems. The problem is that peoples’ spines are locked by ridged, tight and weak spinal muscles. Many people cannot raise straight arms above their heads, rotate on their spine or even straighten back. As they age these muscular weaknesses get worse and lead to serious health problems.

When a person has good posture they look more attractive and appear to be confidant, but the focus of Classical Stretch is not just to help people look great.  We want people be actually feel great and have outstanding health!

Poor posture leads to serious health repercussions beginning with a restricted intake of oxygen and restricted expulsion of carbon-dioxide. We need oxygen to keep our cells alive and we need to get rid of poisonous carbon dioxide which kills our cells.  Poor posture makes you hunch over, collapsing your rib cage and restricting the expansion of your lungs leading to less energy and a buildup of poisons in your cells. Both standing and seated posture affects your body’s ability to fight and prevent illness.  

When you are doing Classical Stretch, don’t worry about trying to stand up straight.  Just do a daily workout and cell by cell your muscles will unlock all your 33 vertebrae and one day you will notice that your posture has improved.
