Classical Stretch - The Esmonde Technique™
The Program that brings Better and Faster Results

Montreal, Canada - There's a new low-impact, stretch and strengthening fitness technique that not only compliments and brings similar results as Pilates and Yoga - it has added medical and rehabilitation benefits. It is called Classical Stretch - The Esmonde Technique™. Created by Miranda Esmonde-White, former National Ballet of Canada ballerina, this program has helped thousands elongate their bodies, heal back pain, reverse osteoporosis, improve flexibility, injury prevention, and even breast cancer rehabilitation. With a television show on PBS and a series of DVDs, Classical Stretch - The Esmonde Technique™ is proving to be the next big fitness trend.

Reaching millions of people through her TV show on PBS and latest video series, Esmonde-White is becoming more and more well known, and helps everyone from the average 30 year-old woman and man, to Jonathon Power, world champion squash player. Most people who participate in a class with Esmonde-White say the overwhelming feeling of well being is more powerful than any other program out there. Top Olympic athletes also claim she has the "million dollar secret" to achieving results in restoration of flexibility, relief of lower back pain and other injuries and overall improvement in the performance of their sport.

So what is Classical Stretch - The Esmonde Technique™?

It is an original combination of scientific formulas and graceful movements that unlock uncomfortably rigid muscles leaving the participant with a more flexible, relaxed and strengthened body. The exercises reach deeply into muscles and ligaments not normally worked in the average fitness program and are set in routines that release tight muscles one by one. The results come quickly - not over years, but in a matter of minutes. Increased flexibility is enjoyed instantly. This unlocking of the muscles creates the leaner look, giving the participant back the body they were meant to have before locking it up in the sedentary and stressful lifestyle of the 21st Century.

Core Principles:
  • It is a combination of scientific stretching, PNF, tai chi, yoga, ballet, physiotherapy and chiropractic movements, plus Esmonde-White's research and knowledge of specific exercises that will give you a longer and leaner body.

  • It takes the PNF concept to another level -gently freeing the body to a level of flexibility that most people never imagined they could achieve.

  • It plays with the concepts of agonist / antagonist and joint rotation to speed the rate of elongation and strengthening which results in a leaner looking body.

  • It focuses on spinal rotation and joint alignment, liberating the back from pain and improving posture.
Current students have seen amazing results:
  1. - Thinner arms and thighs - many have lost up to 3 inches around their bums!
  2. - Flattened and more defined tummies
  3. - Decreased stress levels
  4. - Reversal of osteoporosis
  5. - Dramatic improvement of posture
  6. - Healing of lower back, knee and shoulder injuries/pains
Tips and tricks from Miranda Esmonde-White to achieving these results in the comfort of your own home:
  1. - Getting thinner thighs:
Standing, hold onto a wall or solid chair. Lift one leg sideways and gently rotate the leg in the hip socket 4 times. Turn the leg inwards and straighten the knee; tighten the leg and gently lift it slowly 16 times. Trick: Flex the foot and reach the heel as far away as possible while pointing it towards the ceiling; this will elongate the side adductors and get rid of saddlebags.

  2. - Improve Your Posture:
Stand comfortably with your feet apart. Slowly drop the head and rotate the shoulders while moving the head gently stretching out the knots in the top of the back. Roll up vertebrae by vertebrae; lift head, raise the arms above the head and slowly open them backwards pushing the chest forward and squeezing the shoulder blades together. Finish with the arms at your side.

  3. - Flatten Your Stomach Without doing Sit-Ups:
Sit on a chair. Contract the stomach muscles raise the arms above the head and turn the body twisting side to side. You will feel the stomach muscles being pulled and strengthened which will help flatten them. Trick: tighten your stomach muscles throughout the entire Classical Stretch workout; you will see results faster.

  4. - Back Pain Relief:
Sit on a chair. Drop your body forward and try to hold your ankles; move to one ankle and then the other always keeping the head hanging relaxed and heavy.

  5. - Shoulder Pain Relief:
Stand feet slightly apart. Start with one arm and then the other. With the shoulder joints totally relaxed draw a figure 8 with the arm; do 8 in all, starting with a small figure 8 making it bigger at each repetition. Trick: Use the entire shoulder joint to do the figure 8 and let the body swing and sway with the arm movement.

  6. - Waist Thinner:
Stand with feet apart. Pull in the stomach, breathing always maintaining a tight stomach. Reach for the ceiling 32 times very slowly changing arms with each reach. Trick: Count to four, slowly, with each reach.

A Few Testimonials:

"Hi. My name is Trisha Peterson. I live in Denver, Colorado and have been doing Classical Stretch on PBS for about six months now. I just wanted to let you know that I love doing this program every morning. It's a great way to start my day and I always feel energized after every workout. I am pretty young (23) and feel that this show is something that can benefit women of all ages and body types. Keep up the good work! My mother has Multiple Sclerosis and I've had her start your program as well. She absolutely loves it! It has helped with a lot of her pain." Trisha Peterson, Denver, Colorado

"I started with Miranda three years ago and I was ugly when I came here. I could hardly move; since I have lost 35 pounds. I also have back problems; I saw a chiropractor for seven years. Now I have improved my posture and have much less backache. But what I love most about the class is that it taught me to become beautiful. I never believed I could feel like this, like a ballerina. Miranda is beautiful inside and out and she makes you feel beautiful.'' Francine Paquette, Montreal, Canada

"I just wanted to write to you and tell you how you have helped me. I am a Police Officer in Chicago, Il and I weight train to keep myself fit. I injured the rotary ligaments in my shoulder and had grown accustomed to that popping in my shoulder, until I discovered your show one early Saturday morning. I am happy to report that after a few sessions the popping is gone, thanks." Police Officer, Chicago, Il

"My doctor told me after a bone density scan that I had Ostiopina which is the precursor to Osteoporosis. Since I have been doing Classical Stretch every morning, my last scan showed a 5% increase in bone mass." Nancy Briechle, San Francisco, CA
