Classical Stretch™
Breast Cancer Rehabilitation Tool
Reaches Women Around the Globe

January 2006 – Now, breast cancer patients around the world will be performing their critical rehabilitation exercises with the help of a special Rehabilitation Post Surgery DVD, thanks to the help of a global pharmaceutical company. Miranda Esmonde-White, creator of the new fitness concept - Classical Stretch - and breast cancer survivor, developed a unique workout to help fellow breast cancer survivors regain the mobility in their arm(s) after surgery. And now, a pharmaceutical giant is helping to spread the word by offering this DVDs to patients globally.

Few people are aware that breast surgery results in lack of movement and extreme pain in the arm. According to one study, shoulder arm mobility was one of the most important long-term sources of distress following breast cancer surgery*, and it is one of the most troublesome long-term complications of breast cancer treatment, having a significant impact on the daily lives of breast cancer survivors**. The surgery can also potentially lead to a serious condition called lymphedema (swelling in the arm). The best way to relieve the pain, regain mobility and prevent the future onset of lymphedema is to regularly exercise the arm. That is why the Classical Stretch Breast Cancer Rehabilitation Post Surgery workout is an important tool for women during this delicate time in their recovery. The original Classical Stretch breast cancer rehabilitation workout was released in 2002. This important tool has received a great deal of positive response from breast cancer survivors and clinicians alike. Esmonde-White and her team have updated this tool, creating a “New & Improved” version that will be launched in January 2006. The original workout only included rehabilitation exercises; however, the new workout will also include stress release exercises, as well as a complete workout for women who are beyond the immediate rehabilitation period of approximately six months. Many survivors who are two to three years post-surgery have requested a workout that will also meet their needs. Therefore, the Classical Stretch Full Body Workout will be included in this DVD as well to serve breast cancer survivors at varying stages of rehabilitation.“It is important to keep The Esmonde Technique evolving so I can apply it to many different medical conditions or targeted body parts and shapes. Knowing my technique has helped someone unable to move her arm due to surgery is exhilarating!” said Esmonde-White.

While filming the new rehabilitation workout in the Riviera Maya, Mexico, Esmonde-White also filmed her fourth season of PBS shows, and Volume 2 of her DVD series, which will include specialty videos for cardio, men and back pain relief.
